Overview

While this may not be the original 4chan X fork, it is the most popular and probably the most controversial. Currently, the other three forks are based off of this fork, but many of Mayhem’s design decisions are forced. This fork gained its popularity by reverting the original fork’s controversial 15 second minimum thread updater time, and then later by being endorsed officially by moot at the request of reinstating a 5 second minimum and removing image prefetching.

This fork gained its popularity shortly after the latter changes mentioned in Mayhem’s description. ihavenoface originally contributed to that4chanwolf’s fork – made to revert Mayhem’s changes – until that4chanwolf’s development came to a halt and ihavenoface had to move to his own fork. Over time, many new features were added through equal parts competition and collaboration with zixaphir’s Appchan X. However, development in ihavenoface’s fork has slowed down significantly, and many of the old features have yet to be re-implemented in ihavenoface’s v3 branch.

This fork, officially hosted on Seaweed’s github, is a joint project of both zixaphir and Seaweed. It was originally made due to Seaweed’s disagreements with ihavenoface as development on his fork began to slow down. This fork really gained popularity through v1.1.0 which was a rewrite based on Mayhem’s v3 branch that made everything controversial optional and re-implemented every feature from ihavenoface’s v2 branch and then some.

This fork was originally made in response to 4chan Style Script and OneeChan, and it is the first and only 4chan userscript that combines theme options with 4chan X. It is hands down the most feature-rich fork of 4chan X due to this fact. Changes in the joint seaweedchan/zixaphir fork are merged in on a regular basis.
