I'd be nice if the observer also allowed you to not use intervals/events to run the check but let you execute a check manually. This way it'd be easier to fit in with an angular-esque digest loop

I think there is little need to separate the observer as it already uses ES7 Object.observe if, or a polyfill, is available.
