Currently, there's this neat calculator here: https://ecodiet.kaansarkaya.com/
It tells you exactly what 3 foods you should be eating, ever, at every tier of food available
This is clearly a failure of the cooking system, where there's tons of food and ways of cooking, but only a couple of them deserve any attention from players that actually understand how the system works.
A successful food system will have players discussing what food they prefer and why, rather than all of them zooming into specific groups in certain tiers.

This is my proposal:
Every tier have 4 foods of each of the 3 categories, Carbs, Vitamins and Protein+Fat
Meaning that a Boiled Shoots have the exactly same stats as a Charred Beet, because they are both in the Vitamins group.
The difference is that the 3 most eaten foods you have will each give a different buff, be it reduced craft time, increased cary weight, increased move speed, whatever it may be, each food gives a different buff.
Now instead of people zooming in on Rice Sludge + Charred Meat + Boiled Shoots for non-skill food, they will have a greater selection of what buffs they want to have without giving up on the skill points, actually encouraging cooks to make all of the recipes instead of just the meta
