Steps:

  • Working on project ABC, having opened files x, y, z
  • Closing Sublime Text (cmd + q)
  • Opening Sublime Text
  • Empty New Window

Expected:

  • Instead of an empty Sublime Text Window, I would expect that project ABC is loaded and files x, y, z are opened again

By looking at the sublime-workspace files is seems that in general the opened files are not any longer remembered.

System: OS X 10.10.2
Sublime Text: Stable Channel, Build 3083

I know this options and I always had it disabled and the behaviour when closing Sublime Text always was (remember_open_files was not in my user settings):

  1. For each file with changes it would prompt me if I want to save those changes
  2. When opening Sublime Text again it would restore the project and all files

The later one is gone since a week or so, but I didn't changed the settings (even looked at my backup to be sure about that). So there is definitely a change in behaviour - intended or not.

I added '"remember_open_files": true' to my user settings and now the behaviour seems to be the same. so I assume that Jon changed the default value of remember_open_files. I didn't know that and it is actually a hidden setting (not mentioned in the default settings).

its mentioned

// remember_open_files makes the application start up with the last set of
// open files. Changing this to false will have no effect if hot_exit is
// true
"remember_open_files": true,

It's not for me, I searched for in the default preferences.
And if the default value is true, then adding '"remember_open_files": true,' in my user settings shouldn't make a difference. But it does.

Actually I don't care about this problem any more. I got my desired behaviour back. I'm just telling you that there is a bug, so Jon can fix it.

Which version are you using?

True, looks intentional

Build 3074
Release Date: 3 March 2015
remember_open_files setting is now hidden, and defaults to false. Note that this change will have no effect if the hot_exit setting is left at its default value of true

Ok, then there is no bug and I just missed reading the changelog, sorry :(
Just wondering why it is a hidden setting :o

I am seeing the same issue. "remember_open_files" is not in the default settings, but in my case adding it to the user settings does not enable the feature. It is a huge inconvenience to have to open files from a project every time I open the program.

Hi, have you solved that inconvenience with sublime 3?. I can't find the "remember_open_files" option in the default settings, and it doesn't changes when i add it to my user settings.
