Do not duplicate too much information, refer to the other chapters.

Possible information

  • Image handling in general: how does it work
    • can refer to FAL documentation for sys_file_references
  • Adaptive / responsive images (different images based on Viewport) : possible solutions in TYPO3
  • optimizing images for performance
  • how to configure in BE: configure filemounts (refer to ...), configure file upload wizards, configure file types, thumnails
  • Embedding images in RTE: possible solutions, pitfalls, best practices
  • /uploads folder (older versions)
  • slideshows: refer to possible solutions
  • best practices, known problems (if any), possible pitfalls.

File uploads are only possible when the user has access to the folder user_upload. If you restrict the access for the user one can't see the "Select & upload files" any more
