Joining a Team
If your company is already on CodeStream, you’ll need to be invited to the team. The type of invitation you receive, and how you sign up, will depend on whether or not the team is connected to Slack. If the team is connected to Slack that means that the channels and direct messages you’ll see in CodeStream are the very same ones you see in your Slack workspace. Otherwise, you’ll see channels and DMs that were created on CodeStream.
Joining a team that uses Slack channels
When you’re invited to a team that is connected to Slack, one of your teammates will likely share a link in one of your Slack channels that anyone on the team can use to join. Clicking on the link will take you to Slack to authenticate with your workspace, and will then return you to CodeStream.
Your next step will be to download the CodeStream extension for your IDE. First, be sure to copy the CodeStream Code. Once you have the extension installed, click the “Sign In” link at the bottom of the page and then paste the code into the form to sign into CodeStream.
Joining a team that uses CodeStream channels
When you’re invited to a team using CodeStream channels, you’ll receive an invitation via email. Just click the link in the email and sign up. Be sure to use the same email address to which the invitation was sent, otherwise when you sign up you’ll be prompted to create a team instead of being added to your company’s existing team.
After signing up you’ll need to confirm your email address by clicking on the link in an email we’ll send to you. Now, all you need to do is return to your IDE and click the “Continue” button to start using CodeStream.
