Xs is a functional-programming style shell which is based off of another shell, es.
A few advantages over bash:

  • More consistent, cleaner syntax
  • Some functional programming features, like closures
  • Clean separation of lexical, dynamic and global variables
  • Non-linear redirects (perform io with multiple commands at once)
  • Some convenient string matching functions
