I'm running TigerVncViewer 64-bit version 1.70 on Windows 7 Pro.

I am unable to cut & paste to an Xterm running in the VNCViewer from my Windows machine. I am able to cut & pasted FROM the XTerm to windows box, but not the other way around.

This works in UltraVNCViewer.

I have check vncconfig and all the boxes are checked.
Any suggestions?
I'd really prefer to use TigerVNC Viewer.

Odd. Are you using our build of the client?

Can you try different applications on the Windows side?

Yep. TigerVNCViewer 64bit Version 1.70.

Doesn't matter what application I use on the Windows side, though 99% of the time I'm trying to copy FROM a Notepad file... just plain text.

Could you generate a debug log and attach here?

Um... that doesn't tell me how to generate a log for a Windows client.
I tried adding "-Log *:stderr:100 > tigervnc-viewer.log" to the end of the command run by the icon but that doesn't seem to work.
Also opened a command prompt and cd to the TigerVNC directory and tried running:
vncviewer64-1.7.0.exe -Log *:stderr:100 > tigervnc-viewer.log
And that doesn't work.
Please advise.

Those are the instructions for Linux. The section on Windows is further down on the page.

I have attache the logfile as requested.
It was just a quick SSH session where I tried to copy 1 line, and paste to my SSH window (linux session) by click both buttons on the mouse at the same time.
I did this twice.
Neither time did it paste the text.
Then I copied some text from the SSH window and pasted to a notepad file on my desktop. This worked.

Thanks, in advance, for your assistance.

So the log file shows that the viewer is noticing your clipboard changes and is sending it over to the server.

Have you tested pasting using a menu option? TigerVNC does not have any middle mouse button emulation, which might explain the difference compared to UltraVNC.

@dsevern1

Not to sound like a complete idiot, but can you tell me how to get/show a menu option to be able to paste?
If I left-click on the blank desktop it brings up a menu, but there is no cut/paste on that menu. I can't seem to get any menu to come up using any combination of right or left mouse clicks within an Xterm window.

Thanks in advance!

@dsevern1

Thanks.
I just checked and "xclip" is not installed on our linux servers and I'm not an admin of them so can't install it.
Any other suggestions?

Xterm is what I need to be able to paste to, when using TigerVNC. It's basically all I use, TigerVNC for.
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I don't think xterm supports normal clipboard, so you'll have to test this in some other application. @hildred had some suggestions for that.
