Markdown Web Clipper

Chrome Web Store Chrome Web Store users License: MIT

A web clipper that saves any webpage as clean, high-fidelity Markdown, straight into your notes — one keystroke, fully local, no account required. HTML to Markdown conversion that gets code blocks, tables, math, and images right where other clippers fall short.

Built for people who live in plain-text notes: Obsidian users, developers, researchers, and anyone piping web content into an LLM. It is a local-first Manifest V3 Chrome extension, and the output is plain .md files — they work with anything that reads Markdown: Obsidian, Logseq, Joplin, Google NotebookLM.

Features

  • One-keystroke clip — turn the current page into clean Markdown instantly.
  • High-fidelity extraction — Defuddle removes chrome/nav/ads; Turndown + GFM + math + footnote conversion preserves code blocks, tables, LaTeX math, and footnotes losslessly.
  • Save where your notes live:
    • Download a .md file
    • Copy Markdown to the clipboard
    • Write directly into a single Obsidian vault folder (File System Access)
  • Image modes: skip images, keep reference URLs, or inline as base64.
  • Built-in templates — ready-to-use note templates (article, AI chat, arXiv) rendered read-only in Options.
  • Built-in site rules — sensible per-site extraction defaults that apply automatically.
  • Privacy-respecting — no analytics, no remote calls except the image fetches you opt into; minimal permissions (activeTab at install).

Single-page clip only — clip the page you are on, exactly where you keep your notes.
