# User and Admin Operations Guide

This guide covers daily operation of the DecaTone web portal, multi-phone party line setup, service lines, voicemail management, Do Not Disturb, and administrative fleet management.

## 1. User Guide

### Multi-Phone Hardware Support & Party-Line Auto-Join
- **Multiple Phones per Account**: Pair any number of physical rotary phones to a single extension (e.g. Living Room, Workshop, Bedroom).
- **Independent Ring Settings**: Enable or disable ringing per device (`ring_enabled`).
- **Party-Line Auto-Join**: Picking up any telephone on your account while another phone on your account is in a call automatically joins the active conversation as an end-to-end encrypted group call!

### Web Switchboard & Softphone
- **Interactive Rotary Dial**: Place calls by dragging the authentic 3D rotary dial on screen.
- **WebPhone Softphone**: Built-in browser softphone with acoustic carbon microphone warmth filters, dynamic leveler, and DTMF keypad.
- **Speed Dial 1–9**: Assign contacts to single rotary digits 1 through 9 for instant speed dialing.

### Vintage Telephony Service Lines
Pick up any handset and dial these authentic telephone service numbers:
- **`111`**: Ringback Line Test (hang up, wait 3 seconds, phone rings back to test physical bells).
- **`119` / `099`**: Acoustic Loopback Echo Test (real-time voice loopback to test microphone and earpiece levels).
- **`411`**: Speaking Clock (speaks the current local time with classic time pips).
- **`567` / `300`**: Bell 103 / V.34 Modem Handshake Simulator.
- **`711`**: National Weather Hotline with automated conditions readout.
- **`069`**: Automatic Last Number Redial.
- **`078`**: Read active Do Not Disturb (DND) status aloud.
- **`079`**: Toggle Do Not Disturb (DND) status on/off.
- **`0`**: Connect directly to your interactive voicemail inbox.

### In-Call Special Functions
- **`2`**: Toggle microphone mute / unmute with an in-ear confirmation chirp.
- **`3 + [Extension]`**: Invite another friend to join the active call into a conference.
- **`8`**: Place call on hold with melodic comfort chime.

### Voicemail Studio & Handset Playback
- **Physical Handset**: Dial `0` from idle to hear unread message counts and listen to voicemail recordings directly through the vintage earpiece.
- **Web Browser Softphone**: Stream voicemails with instant HTML5 audio playback and manage greetings.
- **Live Voicemail Screening**: Pick up handset and dial `1` while a caller is leaving a message to intercept the live call.

### Do Not Disturb (DND) & Emergency Breakthrough
- **Flexible Scheduling**: Set quiet hours by time range (e.g. 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM) and active days of the week.
- **Emergency Repeated Call Breakthrough**: If a friend calls twice within 3 minutes during quiet hours, their second call breaks through DND and rings the physical telephone bells.
- **VIP Friends**: Designate close friends as VIPs to always bypass quiet hours.

## 2. Admin Center Guide

### 1. System Overview & Metrics
Live metrics for registered users, active calls, voicemails, paired hardware phones, and storage utilization.

### 2. User Management
Manage user accounts, roles (`admin` / `user`), password resets, assigned extension numbers, and account disable/enable states.

### 3. Hardware Fleet Inspector
Live monitor of all ESP32-S3 devices across your network. Send remote test rings, issue remote reboots, inspect WiFi RSSI signal strength, and unpair devices.

### 4. Firmware OTA Manager
Upload custom compiled `firmware.bin` binaries to override official releases, or broadcast OTA update commands to all connected phones across the network.

### 5. Backups & Disaster Recovery
- **100% Full-Program Backups**: Automated `.tar.gz` bundling of `decatone.db`, custom branding (`logo.png`, `favicon.png`, `navbar_icon.png`), and voicemails/greetings.
- **Automated Retention**: Configurable backup schedule (hourly, daily, weekly) and automatic pruning of archives beyond the retention limit.

### 6. System Self-Updater
- **Docker Environment**: Automatically detects Docker containers, preserves container immutability, and routes release channel selection to ESP32-S3 firmware distribution.
- **Native Host**: Checks GitHub release channels (`stable`, `beta`, `alpha`) and applies 1-click in-place updates.

### 7. Settings, Whitelabeling & SMTP
- **Branding Assets**: Customize application title, header logo, browser favicon, and top-right navigation icon.
- **SMTP Outbound Email**: Configure host, port, credentials, and TLS for welcome greetings, password resets, and voicemail email notifications.
- **Home Assistant MQTT**: Configure broker URL, credentials, and discovery prefix for native Home Assistant entity integration.
