Purpose

Set up the link between IFC, as a component of the CDM, with other CDM parts.

We currently use an IfcOWL version of Industry Foundation Classes 4.3 ADD2. See the corresponding page in this wiki.

Data serialization

The original IFC uses STEP, a text-based format. In its IfcOWL version, RDF is the obvious first answer. As IFC also handles geographic data, the question arises about using traditional geographic data formats such as WKT (Well-Known Text). Using WKT in conjunction with RDF is also being examined under the SemanticRSM developments.
