The CDR objects have an optional predicate in RDF called cdr:allowIndexing. This property is used to exclude certain objects from discovery, mostly objects that serve a purely administrative function. However, it can sometimes be used within the Collections tree to hide an object from view. An example is an object that is intended purely as a surrogate for the containing collection or folder. These objects may be images, sound clips, etc.. that are used to represent the collection, but are not considered first class records in themselves.

So anyway, the workbench needs to have a way to record this property, preferably without creating an entire mets:MdSec to do so. Perhaps some warped implementation of a smLink would do..

maybe just pass it through on the access policy xml, i.e. add the checkbox to that form.

The setting of "Yes, allow discovery" has been added to the ACL form.
