When having a Unity Editor popup window open and active, and then switching to a different workspace, the popup window is gone, but is still deemed to be open, as choosing the same window again will not open a new popup window. The only workaround is to restart and never have a popup window stay open when changing workspaces.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a Unity project.
  2. Open Preferences through Edit -> Preferences...
  3. Switch to a different workspace.
  4. Switch back to workspace Unity is on. The window is gone.
  5. Opening Preferences through Edit -> Preferences... no longer gives you a new popup window.

This may be Ubuntu 14.04 specific problem. Ubuntu uses the "Unity" desktop interface.

Lubuntu 14.04.1 64 bit here, works as should. Ctrl+Alt+←/→

I can reproduce it. Also I can't open the window after I have closed it. (Using Ubuntu 14.04 64bit with "Unity")

"Also I can't open the window after I have closed it."
Huh, well I can't reproduce that, could you post your own steps to reproduce this?

At any rate this really seems like a "Unity" desktop bug. Not sure who to report it to, Wine or Unity desktop team...

Unity, since it's unreproducable on other DEs. Or Compiz maybe.
