We will go over basic commands and scripting in Bash.

Where: Rm 408 on the 4th floor of Burton Tower in the McLennan Physics building
When: November 16
Instructor: @tkivisik
What to bring: Your laptop. Make sure to have Git Bash if you use Windows, or enable Bash shell if you have a newer update of Windows 10. Linux and Mac users already have Bash installed by default.

The goal of this talk is to introduce handy Bash tools for getting the first impression of files (data) and making simple transformations to them. After this you will know:

  • When to use Bash or when to avoid it
  • Enough to continue learning Bash on the go
