Keeps NORMAL mode when text is selected using shift and arrow keys. #2224

When I select text with SHIFT and arrow keys it says the mode is NORMAL, where it should be VISUAL mode.
edit: same for editor.action.smartSelect.shrink and editor.action.smartSelect.grow

Same for any commands that make block selections (e.g. expandLineSelection, Emmet: Balance (outward) on HTML, expand-region etc).

I find quite useful the editor.action.smartSelect.shrink and editor.action.smartSelect.grow. It would be nice if it would be able to delete or change selected text that way.

Just new to VS code, tried to port my Sublime Text setting to VSC, but this blocks me, apply "expand selection" then use 'd' or 'y' is such a easy way to make things faster.
