There appears to be no way to use custom layer names in the current version of VUE (3.3.0) on Mac OS X.

  1. Open layers dialog using Window > Layers.
  2. Attempt to double-click any layer name in the Layers dialog and nothing happens. Does not enter edit mode.
  3. Create a new layer in the Layers dialog. Layer created with name like "New Layer1". Try double-clicking new layer name to modify and nothing happens.

3.3.0 introduces more bugs but less features I think, and everything works fine after rolling back to 3.2.2. Anyway, VUE is great!
