Searching for game causes driver timeout on AMD Fury X GPU

Hi, my friend has a system with an AMD Fury X and since about two days ago when searching for a game the display driver crashes with a timeout. Oddly enough, bot games start without issues and gameplay works fine.
We have tried multiple graphics driver versions now but the behaviour is always the same:

1. Search for game
2. Game searches for a few seconds
3. Driver timeout

What we tried to fix the issue:

• Uninstall Driver with DDU and reinstall
• Multiple different driver versions
• Check integrity of game files
• reinstall Dota 2

Could a Dota 2 update have caused this? Any help is appreciated.
