Symptoms

Videos do not play anymore even though it is a Deck Verified title and I have /home/matt/.steam/steam/steamapps/shadercache/802870/transcoded_video.foz present. I have confirmed this on my Steam Deck as well running Kernel 6.8.7 and Mesa 24.1.0-rc1 alongside the Nvidia laptop I'm making this report from.

Someone filed this as a Proton GE issue as

PROTON_AUDIO_CONVERT_BIN="0"
PROTON_VIDEO_CONVERT="0"
PROTON_DEMUX="0"

fixes video playback but that seems incorrect. Considering it is Deck Verified, that does not seem like the right location for the issue report.

Reproduction

Load Save File 1 (included savedata.tar.gz for convenience), and click once. What should be a video is instead a fade transition.
