@quaec posted at 2013-02-15T16:41:28Z: That's really helpful @brl1214. .vtf sprays don't work for me correctly. When I try to upload a new vft spray, it doesn't change. JPG and TGA sprays seem to work fine. I copied the .vtf file of the new spray to
Maybe this causes some unwanted behavior? |

I' ve got trouble with sprays too in CS:S. The problem is threefold. (1) The CS:S file browser can' t see any subdirectories in most directories. For example, when it is opened it shows ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Counter-Strike Source/ by default, but shows no content as if it were empty. If I switch to my home directory it does show the subdirectories, but if I go to ~/Downloads for example it doesn' t show any of the files or subdirectories present there. This might be four bugs in one comment, but I've got the impression it's all related. Anyway, thanks a lot for giving us Linux ports Valve engineers. |

The fix hasn't been pushed yet... Just waiting on that. |
|
Fix has shipped in TF2. We'll release a CS:S update in a day or so that fixes it. |

It works for me since I got the update, thanks for fixing! Maybe you want to close this issue now? |
still have this exact bug on a fresh install of css with vtf spray files that should work for certain (and with freshly made tga as well). i tried uploading from all kinds of directories in case css is still capricious, it made no difference. i double checked cvars like op did too. max graphic settings on. default sprays work, custom sprays all look invisible in lan server even when uploaded from main menu, and after css restarts too, nothing fixes it. |

When I create a server with the default settings and press the spray key (whether with the default spray or a custom spray), the sound is played but nothing is painted on the wall.
