I further investigated the freezes. It seems like they're random. Also Steam doesn't leave any logs so I can't really pinpoint where it goes wrong. Something remarkable is that I managed to play around 10 seconds in-game without any lag or frame drops but after that it froze. So I'm pretty sure it's not related to my pc not being capable of running CS:GO. Here's a list of things I tried but made no difference:

I can second that. The freezing does happen within a minute of joining a game, but not always at exactly the same point. I've been able to join a team a couple times, and other times it locks up almost immediately after connecting. |

Hello, I've been having the same problem as Siilwyn. I have a thread here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/626329187164961974/#p2 ...with my problem, and steps i've taken to try and rectify it. So far, i've tried: 1). Changing the resolution My crash report without any launch options is this: Running Steam on linuxmint 17 64-bit swap interval = 0 swap limit = 1Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 70: non-double matrix element My computer has a Q6600 processor and a radeon 7870 graphics card. The screen froze, the sound looped and I had to reset my computer by pushing the reset button. I hope a solution to this can be found! |

If your system locks up and you are unable to ssh into it (assuming sshd should be running), then it is a kernel and/or video driver problem, and it should also be reported to those devs. |

How exactly do you "ssh into it"? Also, I was running CS:GO fine on the 4.3.12798 drivers a week ago, it's just after the new patches that the problem has happened (i'm not saying that the patches are the cause, i'm just pointing it out). This means that it can't be a video driver problem. I only upgraded my video drivers since I thought the problem might solve itself if I did so. |

The problem is still here, I'm surprised nobody from Valve has replied to this thread yet... The following launch options didn't help anything: -novid -nojoy -high -gl. |

Have you tried disabling FXAA? |

Yes I tried disabling FXAA and putting all of the settings on low. |

This problem where the game hangs and the sound loops, it seems to be very common in Source games. I have it in L4D2. Is there anything Valve needs from us that could help them identify the problem? This is 100% reproducible for me in L4D2. Is there something I can run to profile or capture some data during the "freeze" period to help identify what the issue is? |

I have fixed the hangs on Fedora 21 x86_64 by disabling SELinux: Now the screen flashes, but I can still play, on Fedora 20 It was running ok, but after upgrade this happend. |

Nobody of Valve's developers respond, the game still crashes and none of the above 'fixes' work. I guess you could say this repository is dead. |

I suspect they're not bothering with these issues because they're porting these games over to Source 2. But that's just a suspicion. FWIW it seems that I've been able to mitigate this issue in L4D2 by turning off multicore rendering in the options AND forcing multicore rendering off by setting the launch option +mat_queue_mode 0. Also, if you have an nvidia card you might want to clear the GL cache by deleting the contents of the ~/.nv/GLCache directory. On first run the game will be a bit choppy as it recompiles the shaders. Other things I do include setting the GPU fan settings to manual and jacking the fan up to keep the card cool, as well as setting the GPU performance level to Maximum Performance and also the CPU to Performance (highest frequency). I don't think these do anything but I haven't been having the problem (hardly ever) since taking these steps, so something in there has made it better. |

My screen freezes immediately after I choose a team, I can hear the background sound looping and after waiting a few minutes it still is. I tried lowering the resolution but that didn't help.

Graphics: Intel® Iris Pro 5200 – 128 MB eDRAM

My complete Steam system information.
