Overlay doesn't work on ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit)

All games run well but overlay doesn't work. Taking a look at my dmesg, I get a segfault:

Overlay works fine with nvidia binary driver.

It's because steam does package a libxcb with a dri2 dependency, and latest xorg wants a libxcb with dri3 dependency (I was the first to be suprised of that dependency, since I thought libxcb was just related to the x11 protocol). libxcb API is binary stable (C ABI). Then you just need to remove the steam libxcb.
Perform a search into issues on libxcb keyword, you'll find the instructions.

@ml- Same problem here. The #3093 doesn't help.

Ubuntu 14.04 64 bits with nvidia-331-updates.

My custom launch options are LD_PRELOAD="libpthread.so.0 libGL.so.1" __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1 $OPTIMUS_PREFIX %command% and the error I got is:

ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/ayrton/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/ayrton/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_64/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64): ignored.

Well, I solved my problem removing all bumblebee stuff and installing nvidia-prime.
Doing this I also removed the launchd options. Now everything is working with my nvidia video card. And also, the performance is awesome.
