Big Picture Chat Function not working

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. Open Steam (Beta or Stable) on any Linux distribution
2. Open Big Picture (-tenfoot)
3. Navigate to chat

The chat never loads up.

Making all "-steamos3" clients obsolete. All steam consoles obsolete because cannot invite your friends or talk to your friends with voice chat anymore.

I understand that valve is working hard to get the '-gamepadui' working to replace big picture.

But as my research shows... This bug is affecting ALL users.

This bug is not Gentoo specific and is a problem for all Linux distributions.

@kisak-valve could you move this issue to ValveSoftware/SteamOS as evident that its not a linux specific issue.

It is leaving everyone who bought a steam console in the past obsoleted by what seems to be a small bug.

I have this exact issue as well. Linux Mint 20.3 (Ubuntu 20.04). A friend on Linux Mint 21 (Ubuntu 22.04) too. My Steam client Oct 7, 2022, Steam API v020, Steam Package Versions: 1665183764, Stable Version. Tested on Beta, same result.

I've had this issue for years. It would be great to be able to use steam chat while playing on normal big picture without having to alt tab.... since the new big picture just won't work on my linux mint 21 system w/ gtx 1060.

I see this issue as well using windows 11. I'm trying to use steam link which drops into big picture and chat will never come up at all
