Describe the bug

Vocal crashes upon start-up. After several attempts to restart, it will generally run well enough to listen to a podcast or two, although it often crashes again (this issue isn't addressing those crashes). Stack trace shows fatal [Gtk] or [GLib] errors.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Run com.github.needleandthread.vocal
  2. Program opens for a short period of time, then fails with a segmentation fault.
  3. Rerunning the program sometimes gets it running.

The logs differ from repeated runs. These are two back to back runs.

Thanks so much for this issue report! I'm sorry you ran into such a serious bug!

I'm happy to report we've (mostly) re-written Vocal from the ground up, and this is no longer happening. Please check out our new stable release once it comes out in a few weeks, and reach back out if you see the same crashes on startup. Thank you!
