When I use textarea_code to enter code or script src, ampersand gets replaced by weird characters like this ¤
Is there any solution to fix this or at least use other type of input. Thanks
@norcross can you take a look? I think you're the one that made textarea_code
I think line 420 should be changed to $new = $new (as in, don't apply any changes to the field on save).
As it is now, textarea_code is no different than textarea and textarea_small
I just tested what is in the lastest release (0.8) and didn't have any issues.
Neither the data being stored or pulled is escaped from my tests.
@alexbwfl how are you retrieving the information? Are you using 0.8?
I changed line 420 to $new, still the same, I am using 0.8 on WP 3.3.0
Delete everything in that textarea - then just type & and save it, does it convert it to that symbol? I thought maybe perhaps it was a bad paste. Have you tried pulling the data from that field on the front-end? Does it contain that symbol?
If I type it (no paste) it still converts & to ¤ in editor screen but displays properly on the front end. Thanks
Hmm, what is your install's primary language? I don't see how that would make a difference but at this point I'm not sure why it's doing that for you.
What about & in the normal textareas, does that save just fine?
It's English, although some elements on the site in French. As you can see on the screenshot there is another & , which wasn't converted... weird. Other & in textareas are fine too
I didn't even notice the other & in the field. I have no idea why it would convert one and not the other. I'll ping @GaryJones and @norcross, perhaps they have some insight - I'm stumped!
Thank you very much for your help!
I was never able to duplicate this on any of my installs or tests. If someone is still having this issue (or has a fix) please feel free to reopen!
