This log shows contradictory information about the amount of time spent in heavy stagger.

(see HT tooltip in the log; gnome-screenshot won't pick that up >.>) Heavy stagger uptime is < 37% of the fight, but the stagger pool plot shows most of the fight as > 100% hp staggered. This is likely due to bridge shenanigans. Note that heavy stagger is tracked using the debuffs assigned by the game, so it is much less likely to be incorrect.

While its fresh in my mind, I'm going to briefly go over my findings for tonight.

  1. Aura of Sacrifice absorbs stagger dot damage (sigh), as do other redirection effects (notably one of the earth totems)
  2. the way stagger behaves while AoS is up is not consistent with my (our?) understanding of how stagger works. Haven't checked if periods outside it match my understanding, but its also 1:30am.

Looking at this log, we can see some weirdness in the timeline. AoS is up the whole time. I'm not familiar with how it works exactly, but I do know that it provides a reduction of up to 10% damage (this is not the amount that is dealt to the paladin). We have the following sequence of events:

Time Event Amount
1:01.705 Pulse Grenade hits -
1:02.157 Stagger ticks 259030
1:02.248 Gathering Power hits Staggered: 176774
1:02.664 Stagger ticks 228131

So if X1 is the amount in the pool before the first tick and X2 is the amount in the pool before the second tick and the actual amount drained in each tick is T1 and T2, then we should have:

X1 - T1 + 176774 = X2
T1 = X1 / 20
T2 = X2 / 20

No matter what values I use for T1 and T2, I cannot get values for X1 and X2 that make sense. I can do more digging later, but either the log is bork, or stagger doesn't always follow the rules
