Postinstall scriptlets of ['docker'] have failed

Hello,

When I try to build with docker support i get this error:

ERROR: core-image-minimal-1.0-r0 do_rootfs: Postinstall scriptlets of ['docker'] have failed. If the intention is to defer them to first boot,
then please place them into pkg_postinst_ontarget_${PN} ().
Deferring to first boot via 'exit 1' is no longer supported.

This might be because btibake and/or openembedded.core has just been updated.

I'm working with the warrior branch.

Can you in anyway help me on this? or maybe fix it if the above is the case?

I am not yet totally sure what's causing this problem, but I do have a hypothesis and a workaround.

This problem only occurs when systemd is in the DISTRO_FEATURES variable. The docker_git.bb recipe does the following check to determine if it should install the docker.init file:

if ${@bb.utils.contains('DISTRO_FEATURES','systemd','true','false',d)}; then

When systemd is present in DISTRO_FEATURES, this evaluates to true so the docker.init file (used by sysvinit) is not installed.

However, the docker_git recipe still inherits the update-rc.d class which means update-rc.d will still be run. When it runs, it cannot find the docker.init file and thus creates this error.

The solution is to create a .bbappend file in your layer at meta-user/recipes-containers/docker/docker_%.bbappend with the following contents:

do_install_append() {
	install -d ${D}${sysconfdir}/init.d
	install -m 0755 ${WORKDIR}/docker.init ${D}${sysconfdir}/init.d/docker.init
}

This will install the docker.init file even when using systemd. I'm not sure if this is really the right solution for this, but it suppresses the error for me.

+1 I came across the same issue, for me the patchfile is actually docker-ce_%.bbappend

Bump, the above notes from @gpanders and @rpcme also worked for me. I'm not using a Xilinx bsp though - this is an issue in the docker-ce meta-data.
