That would be 2 different things. One like most apps, eg WP (upload all zip files, go to /admin/install.php), and this other one (install a tiny script that downloads everything directly on the server)
Was just thinking that this would make life a little easier. I don't know if you can look to PHPList for inspiration as they have recently implemented an upgrade script that assists you running a backup, then uploading the latest files and upgrading etc. https://www.phplist.org/automatic-updater-an-easier-way-to-upgrade-phplist/
