The meta description in not showing up in google's search results. Yoast is the only plugin I'm using for seo. I can see my title (created with yoast) in the header but not the meta description.

The meta description does appear after the "<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin v1.4.19 - http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/ --> "

I'm guessing the meta description needs to appear in the header just like the title tag and hence the issue with the no meta description in google search results.

Please see below example page here ----> http://michaelbassolinoevents.com/bio

Yoast's meta description works great on your site. The example page you provided do have two meta description tags however. It seems that the first one is added by your WP theme and it's empty. You can delete it in your theme's header.php file.

Anyway, Google won't always show your meta description in the search results because the 'excerpt' depends on the query you type.

Thanks, I understand that google won't always show my meta description. However, none of the meta descriptions for any of my pages. This leads me to believe that it has something to do with the coding of my my site.

Can you tell me exactly what part of my header.php code I need to delete or modify in order for the yoast meta description to work?

Thanks again!

@SowAd

Well, chances are the reason is that you have two meta descriptions on your pages and the first one is empty.

As you have a premium theme from ThemeForest, I can't check your header.php file. Anyway, if the meta description is hard-coded, you can wrap it in an if statement, checking if WordPress SEO is installed.

Before the meta name="description" content="..." add the following line:

<?php if ( defined( 'WPSEO_VERSION' ) ) : ?>

... and after that you can insert:

<?php endif; ?>

I hope it helps. If not, it may be a good idea to contact the theme author for help.
