By default, Wordpress SEO places rel=author on all pages, posts, and media. Users can check any or all of three boxes to not have rel=author on one or more types of items.

However, Google mandates that people use rel=author only on posts. So, countless Wordpress users are in violation unless they are aware of this functionality and know not to have rel=author on non-post content.

I'd suggest either:

  1. Having pages and media be checked by default -- with a recommendation from Yoast not to uncheck them
  2. Leaving it as is but include a recommendation to check pages and posts
