As initially discussed in the IndieWeb chat, it would be interesting to add improvements to the app related to how Moves used to function.

This leads to a question as far as if a Moves-style replacement app should continue to be Overland or a separate app aimed at downloading and tracking your data in iCloud with no external dependencies.

@aaronpk mentioned people have requested for other export options such as Google Sheets or Dropbox. If this was the direction taken the data itself would probably be stored in iCloud and then periodic export options would be able to be turned on to export to a Compass-compatible server, Google Sheets, Dropbox or maybe even just Micropub requests when a Trip or Visit is tracked.

Currently Overland tracks your location, gets visit data from the iPhone and can track trips.

The missing pieces of information (ignoring the question about data storage) are: converting visits to proper checkins with venues as well as detecting possible trips that weren't logged.

This issue is just a generic place to discuss some of these issues and if these things should be added to Overland, be part of an Overland rebuild or become a separate, completely new app.
