I am getting this error even though the package exists

Is there anything special about your pubspec.yaml or general setup?

I don't see any reason why getting the latest version should not work, unless you're e.g. talking to a stale pub.dev proxy or some such.

As there is no general issue with adding this dependency to one's project, I would close this for now as there does not seem to be anything to be done from our end.
