Current workaround: pass the language settings as 3rd parameter (for parseDate as well)

$.mobiscroll.formatDate('M', new Date(), $.mobiscroll.i18n.en);

$.mobiscroll.parseDate('M', 'Mar', $.mobiscroll.i18n.en);
