Brief description of tool
V2 has been the de facto version for Windows for some time. There are many, differences, improvements and fixes that v1 does not have.
From other issues I see the reason this was not previously supported was that it was not possible with the Azure VMs used for the runners.
However I now also see that Ubuntu have published a actions for use with WSL on Azure self hosted runners, so hoping there has been some change in the Azure side that now allows this to be looked at again by GitHub?
