I am testing Source-Code-Pro in urxvt, Archlinux. I've installed the TTF variant from AUR (yaourt -S ttf-source-code-pro).
Setting the font to SCP, it is pretty HUGE compared to the stock fixed one. Downsizing it to 7 points makes it almost unusable. I used
printf '\33]50;%s\007' "xft:Source Code Pro-7
in urxvt to choose the size.

I don’t think that we ever intended for these fonts to be used so small. I think 10 pts. is about as low as you would want to use these fonts. If you must go smaller, this is likely not the right font for you.
Fair enough, I consider it my fault. It's also hard to win against the de-facto standard terminal font fixed anyway ;-)
Btw, i/1/l are really good seperated.
Thanks for the comment, I'll just close the issue as I understand I'm having the wrong use case.
