Console Messages / Warnings #6379

@btjones

Hi,
Every time I start up Brackets (or a brackets-shell based app) I see four and sometimes five messages immediately logged.

Three are "Internals of CFAllocator not known" and one is the "CGFontSetShouldUseMulticache is obsolete" message (which already has an open issue: #5736). These are the four that appear every time the app runs.

The fifth message displayed maybe 5% or 10% of the time for me:

setPresentationOptions called with NSApplicationPresentationFullScreen when there is no visible fullscreen window; this call will be ignored.

The app still seems to run correctly. I'm wondering if these are known issues and if anyone knows what is causing the messages (besides the known issue #5736)?

Here are the complete console log messages:

1/5/14 3:11:53.185 PM Brackets[83658]: Internals of CFAllocator not known; out-of-memory failures via CFAllocator will not result in termination. http://crbug.com/45650
1/5/14 3:11:53.340 PM Brackets Helper[83661]: Internals of CFAllocator not known; out-of-memory failures via CFAllocator will not result in termination. http://crbug.com/45650
1/5/14 3:11:53.564 PM Brackets Helper[83662]: Internals of CFAllocator not known; out-of-memory failures via CFAllocator will not result in termination. http://crbug.com/45650
1/5/14 3:11:53.955 PM Brackets Helper[83661]: The function `CGFontSetShouldUseMulticache' is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance.
1/5/14 3:11:55.876 PM Console[83663]: setPresentationOptions called with NSApplicationPresentationFullScreen when there is no visible fullscreen window; this call will be ignored.

I'm running:
OS X 10.9.1
Brackets sprint 35 downloaded from http://brackets.io/

  • Looks like the "CFAllocator" message is https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=45650 which was fixed in Chromium for 10.9 in early October... do we have a new enough CEF to have that fix yet? (This is the Chromium bug that #5736 links to even though the description of #5736 refers to "CGFontSetShouldUseMulticache" instead... hmm).
  • The "CGFontSetShouldUseMulticache" message appears to have been fixed in Chromium about 6 months ago (annoyingly, I can't figure out how to make that page give me an exact date). Similar to above, we need to check when that will trickle down to CEF to know when the message is expected to go away for Brackets.
  • The "NSApplicationPresentationFullScreen" warning does not appear related to Brackets (it's tagged as coming from the Console app itself).

Marking tracking for the two Chromium issues, low priority since they both seem benign. At some point we may want to sort out #5736 and merge these two bugs together.

@JeffryBooher Can I reassign this to you since you own the related issue #5736? This one is definitely outside my area of expertise :-)

@peterflynn This is a warning the CEF is using deprecated APIs so just assign to me with the Tracking label.

Closing this as a dup of #5736. @btjones please add any additional details to #5736 thanks!
