My vision for this:

First, user on Cube view see clearly ? Help button. It's his call to action whenever he feel lost. Top right corner, icon and text.

Upon clicking this button, whole screen is replaced with wireframe of Cube view. Each section is represented as schematic drawing and is clickable. Borders, hover, mouse pointer for affordance.

For now I think we need these sections:

  • Dimensions
  • Measures
  • Visualisation
  • Visualisation selector
  • Filters
  • Splits
  • Legend
  • Pinboard

After clicking on any of them, user is presented with detailed text that explains what, why and how of each section. For example, for measures we need to explain iconography - approximate measures and info icon, two modes of selecting measures, groups of measures and ability to filter by name.

As enhancement, we could pass to this view Essence and provide information based on that. For example specific info for data visualisation. Or show/hide Legend depending on visibility in normal view.
