Regarding Upscaling In the world of texture upscaling, it can be hard to enter because of the relative size of it, so it can be hard to choose which upscaler to use, luckily, as they say, "Professionals have standards" and the professionals in the field have pioneered the field, there's now not so much of a debate as to which upscaler to use, as the winner is clear, it's ESRGAN.

ESRGAN - Short for "Enhanced Super Resolution General Adversarial Network" is a deep learning-based open-source upscaling application, it uses pre-trained models for upscaling, models are more or less instructions for how to upscale, there are countless pre-trained models specialized in certain fields of upscaling, for instance, there are ones which are trained in more grainy and rusty looking textures, then there are ones specialized in pixel art and rather smooth stuff. With the huge set of models available, it's unlikely that a texture can not be improved.

For installing ESRGAN I would recommend this guide and for a user interface for it, I would recommend using Cupscale It has a preview function, it has interpolation, tiling, GPU optimizations and countless other features that will significantly speed up your workflow.

If you want to learn more about this, I would recommend checking out the GameUpscale Wiki
