SUMMARY

Update the assemble module to just accept a list of files to be assembled in order.

ISSUE TYPE
  • Feature Pull Request
COMPONENT NAME

Assemble module

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The task that made me look for this functionality was that I wanted to assemble a certificate along with the intermediate CAs.

Right now I am doing something like this.

shell: |
  cat path/domain.cert \
      path/intermediate.pem > \
      path/domain.cert-bundle

It would be a lot nicer if I could have a task like this.

- name: combine the certs
  assemble:
    src:
    - "path/domain.cert"
    - "path/intermediate.pem"
    dest: "path/domain.cert-bundle"

This feature has been discussed in the past and unfortunately it is not one that we are interested in accepting. #19500 (comment)
