Keka currently does not support binary-to-7-bit-text file encodings, like UUEncoding, Binhex, Xxencoding, Base64, Ascii85, …

These formats were very common 20+ years ago and from time to time I need to decode a .hqx or .uue file

For reference @aonez here are some macOS command line utilities to work on such files:

  • applesingle (no standard file extension; 0x00051600 magic number)
  • ascii85 (no standard file extension; xbtoa5 magic number)
  • base64 (for .b64)
  • binhex (for .hqx)
  • macbinary (for .bin; header does not have magic number)
  • uudecode (for .uue)
  • xxd (for .xxe)

General information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary-to-text_encoding

  • yencode (for .yenc; via TCL, no self-contained command line tool)
