Subject: [ANNOUNCE] %FORMAL_NAME% elected as CouchDB committer

Dear community,

I am pleased to announce that CouchDB Project Management Committee has elected %FORMAL_NAME% as a CouchDB committer.

By default, outside contributions to the project follow the Review-Then-Commit model. Being a committer means you can follow the Commit-Then-Review model. In other words, %INFORMAL_NAME% can now make changes at will.

This election was made in recognition of %INFORMAL_NAME%'s existing contributions and commitment to the project.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to %INFORMAL_NAME%!

On behalf of the CouchDB PMC,

Subject: Next steps as a new committer

Dear %NAME%,

As you know, the ASF Infrastructure has set up your committer account as %ID%.

Please log in and configure your account, if you haven't already done so:

https://id.apache.org/

You can use this to set up SSH, GPG, mail forwarding, etc.

More information here:

http://www.apache.org/dev/#committers

You now have commit access to specific parts of the ASF.

CouchDB resources are here:

http://wiki.apache.org/couchdb/SourceCode

General committers resources are here:

https://svn.apache.org/repos/private/committers

Naturally, if you don't understand anything be sure to ask us on the CouchDB dev mailing list. Documentation is maintained by volunteers and hence can be out-of-date or incomplete. Of course, you can now help fix that!

I will announce you to the dev list soon.

Thanks,

Being a committer allows you to contribute more autonomously. For developers, it enables you to more easily make changes and eliminates the need to have contributions reviewed.

Whether your work is development related or otherwise, this is a recognition of your contributions and commitment to the project and the Apache Way.
Whether your work is development related or otherwise, this is a recognition of your contributions and commitment to the project.

While this does not mean that you need to participate any more than you already do, people do tend to feel more committed to the project. And because of that, you may find that you spend more time here.

We will arrange for your Apache user account when the CLA has been recorded. After this we will make an announcement to the dev@couchdb.apache.org list, and your new position will be official.
