Version: 1.2.5
CUPS.org User: murdie

This didn't happen on Solaris with gcc 3.4.6 in 1.2.* before 1.2.5:

make

Making all in cups...
Compiling adminutil.c...
gcc: _POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS: No such file or directory
In file included from globals.h:35,
from adminutil.c:47:
http-private.h:43:1: warning: "FD_SETSIZE" redefined
In file included from /usr/local/pkg/gcc-3.4.6/lib/gcc/sparc-sun-solaris2.8/3.4.6/include/sys/types.h:569,
from /usr/include/time.h:19,
from http.h:36,
from ipp.h:35,
from cups.h:34,
from adminutil.h:38,
from adminutil.c:46:
/usr/include/sys/select.h:34:1: warning: this is the location of the previous definition
make[1]: *** [adminutil.o] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 1

Odd that it says "warning" and yet stops the make.

Of course, it'll be the:

gcc: _POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS: No such file or directory

that is the fatal error. I'll look further tomorrow.

Fixed in Subversion repository.

This was reported by another person on cups.bugs; basically, just edit the Makedefs file and add "-D" before the _POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS in the OPTIM variable.
