wine cannot work with latest version of cups #248

Installing some win32 packages in wine crash due to libcups.

Unless you can actually provide a traceback with function names and line numbers within CUPS, there isn't a damn thing we can do to help you, assuming that it is a problem in CUPS and not in the WINE interface to it.

I use gentoo linux, so I compile cups automatically during install. Is there a way for me to install cups so that I can give you your line numbers ?
Hopefully, there is some USE value I can use with the cups ebuild?

I have no idea, as we do not use Gentoo at all...

Any option that produces a build with debugging info (with CUPS this is the "--enable-debug" option passed to the configure script) will do this for you...

Why close this if the problem has not been resolved.
I tried enabling debugging symbols, but the wine debugger failed to print any.
So, I ask again, why close this bug, when I have been working with the wine people to try and get output which might help you. So, until I can get output that can help you, don't close this bug.

The latest version of wine in gentoo portage combined with the current version of cups in gentoo portage does not cause this problem any more. I noticed that the version of wine changed, but I did not notice any change in cups version, so all I can assume is the bug was in wine, and has now been fixed.
You can close this bug now.
