Version: 1.5-feature

Many HP printers only report their IEEE 1284 Device ID over SNMP on this OID:

1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.1.1.7.0

The SNMP backend ought to try that one if the Printer MIB one fails.

Hmm, I've just come across the fix in SVN revision 8941. I think that bug had been killing a lot of the valid responses I would otherwise have seen, so I'm no longer sure how necessary this extra OID is. However, it certainly is used by many (all?) HP printers...

After more testing, it's definitely still needed for the HP Color LaserJet 3800, so there are probably more.

Roughly 500 current Ricoh printer models is using "1.3.6.1.4.1.367.3.2.1.1.1.11" for 1284DeviceID.
(Only the newest ones released in 2009 supports port monitor MIB)

Can CUPS adding support for this?
I think the code is in snmp.c. If I provide a patch, will that be considered for 1.4?

George: No, this will only go into CUPS 1.5 - 1.4.x is for bug fixes only.

Here's more information regarding Ricoh private MIB oid for retrieving 1284DeviceID.

[george@localhost ~]$ snmpget -c public -v1 172.30.4.173 1.3.6.1.4.1.367.3.2.1.1.1.11.0
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.367.3.2.1.1.1.11.0 = STRING: "MFG:RICOH;CMD:PJL,RCS,PCL,PCLXL,POSTSCRIPT;MDL:Aficio MP C3500;STS:10072/10033,0;CLS:PRINTER;DES:RICOH Aficio MP C3500;"

[george@localhost ~]$ snmpwalk -c public -v1 172.30.4.173 1.3.6.1.4.1.367.3.2.1.1.1.11

I've decided not to support a bunch of extra OIDs for this - SNMP discovery is a hack anyways, and querying new OIDs will only make it a lot slower...
