It is time to transition all of the non-Mac filters over to the OpenPrinting folks to maintain them. Preliminary list is:

bannertops
imagetops
imagetoraster
pdftops
texttops

I think also for CUPS 1.6:

commandtoescpx
commandtopclx
rastertoescpx
rastertopclx

I have created a branch for this:

OK, filters and backends are removed from trunk and only in the legacy-1.6 branch now.

Hello Mike,
how do I printout on devices which are uses the rastertopclx or rastertoescpx filters?

As you know I use the rastertopclx filter to printout on largeformatprinters from HP.

or do you move the functionality to rastertohp?

Is the OpenPrinting folks are informed about your steps?

Frans,

Yes, Open Printing is aware of this - it was a topic at this year's printing summit. As for the filters, they are part of the legacy filters we will be handing over to them.

Hello Mike,

thanks for the information.

How should we deal with STR #2895: add sample drivers for plotter?

years ago you helped me to create a ppd for HP-Plotters and now?

Franz

Franz,

Regarding STR #2895, I'm closing it as a dupe of this bug - feel free to track where this gets put in open printing land so you can send your driver info file there...

Hello Mike,

please send me a link to track changes at openprinting ...
I could not found anything :-(

in the last week you checked in a lot of fundamental changes into cups 1.6.
Is there any article about the way to 1.6 and the building blocks printing of this future available.
Do not talk about the slides from "OpenPrinting Summit San Francisco 2011", I looked inside of them for month. They are very interesting.
But the people and I am needs a summary of the slides.

regards
Franz

Franz,

Till Kamppeter is the person that will be able to help you on tracking things for Open Printing.

As for an article, I am working on one to show the roadmap ahead.

I have now set up the upstream package cups-filters as a part of the OpenPrinting project. Its development is tracked via BZR on

http://bzr.linuxfoundation.org/openprinting/cups-filters

Bugs and feature requests are tracked on https://bugs.linuxfoundation.org/, product OpenPrinting, component cups-filters.

So this CUPS feature request is implemented now and can be closed.
