I have a HP DesignJet 430 Plotter. It prints to a 36" roll of paper. I've been unable to configure the media as being 36" wide and infiniately long.

Thanks for your help!

What ppd are you using? On Linux, if your printer is called 'ThirtySix', look at /etc/cups/ppd/ThirtySix.ppd

In that ppd, what's under 'PaperDimension'? Do you see something like '_PageSize P36x108/36"'? Depending on your needs, try and define a '_PageSize P36x999999/36"'?... I assume the roll is actually finite; just very, very large.

Hope it helps.

This isn't something that CUPS (or most printers, for that matter) supports.

CUPS processes pages. The pages can be arbitrarily long, but you have to specify the final length, otherwise the page cannot be rasterized, etc.

Most drivers for large format printers support custom page sizes, so you can specify arbitrary sizes within the limits of the printer and media.
