Interesting. 5.12.4 was a colossal train wreck from my perspective, so hopefully the core issues have been resolved.

Just to make clear why this release is important: it is the latest of the 5.12 LTS branch, which has years of support left on it. Anyone seriously using QT in Enterprise software is linking against 5.12 because of it's LTS tag.

Due to how there were some breaking changes from 5.12.3 -> 5.12.4. I hope they are now fixed and invested parties can continue on to build against the current QT LTS release.

Quoting the blog :

Qt 5.12 LTS has entered in 'strict' phase

in my view is their attempt at damage limitation for the fallout from the last LTS release and shows their intent to work on QT6 in the background.
