If this is the official fix I will submit a patch or bugreport to avrdude, switching the arduino target to use 9600 baudrate by default. Just want some confirmation before messing things up.

I don't know for sure but i don't believe it.
I use SDK 23 to upload the ArduinoISP sketch and then switch to SDK 1.0 and use it at 19200 Baud.
Also read in the Forums that the problem is a buffer overflow in SoftwareSerial but didn't find a (working) fix for it.
But... any hint on that would be highly appreciated :)
