While I try to set-up Searx development environment (docker), I stumbled at "The connection was reset" error. After number of tries, I realized that on installation page, we've mentioned wrong port address of container (i.e. it should be $PORT:8080 instead of $PORT:8888), because container port address is 8080 not 8888. Please, feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong.

Can anyone else confirm this bug? / if so, I can pick up this issue and correct the docs / I am already working on (see #1776) / for those are interested in, here is a HTML preview (don't bookmark).

My bad, after building the docker image, there is no instruction mentioned about how to run docker image,

git clone https://github.com/asciimoo/searx.git
cd searx
docker build -t whatever/searx .

so I thought that container port for this docker image will also be 8888 because port 8888 is mentioned in just above instruction.

@return42 , should I close this issue? because problem was happened due to my carelessness.

@finn0 you can use ./manage docker_build

also see https://github.com/searx/searx-docker/blob/master/docker-compose.yaml#L48

Some additional notes:

  • woahbase/alpine-searx supports multiple architectures (other images supports only the amd64 architecture)
  • searx/searx changes searx/version.py to add a suffix to the version: the instance shows something like "0.15.0-236-3f93fe04" (236 commits after the 0.15.0 tag, commit 3f93fe0).
