What do you need to do? It seem strange to me, that a copied or cut selection is not pasted at its orgiginal position. If I just want for example move the selected part to another
layer, I always must reposition it to its original position. How would you like to do it? I can think of three solutions for this problem
make paste at original position the default behavior
add an option in edit to paste at original position
add a duplicate command, means your selection gets copied and pasted at the
original position, but stays in the paste mode where you can still move, turn, place it...
