Run using Docker
- Install Boot2Docker
- Run Boot2Docker
- $
boot2docker init - $
boot2docker start - $
$(boot2docker shellinit) - To persist the environment variables across shell sessions, you can add
$(boot2docker shellinit)to your~/.bashrcfile

- Install docker-compose (formerly fig)

- Copy sample
database.yml- $
cp config/database.yml.sample config/database.yml

- Build the Docker containers

docker-compose build

- Run the app
- $
docker-compose up
- $
- Migrate the database
- Do this in another terminal window
docker-compose run web rake db:create db:migrate
- Do this in another terminal window
- Access the app locally
- Run
boot2docker ipto get the ip address of the Docker daemon - View the app at
IP_ADDRESS:3000
- Run
Development notes
- If you modify the
Gemfileor theDockerfileyou will need to rundocker-compose buildto rebuild the container.
